Mesmer definitely. Soul reaping isn't anywhere as good of a primary as fast casting. Not to mention, if you want energy you can just steal it instead of wasting points into a skill that does nothing unless you kill something. But by then the fight's already over. Necro or Monk secondary work great. There are a lot of cruddy monks out there, so you're going to have to heal yourself a lot.

For male Necros,they are much more damn hella freakin cooler than mesmer,male mesmer looks gay,necro looks devish=cool. and i necro Fow armour is also nicer than mesmer's. I love the spikes poking through the skin.

Mesmer. Well actually, male Mesmer, because Male Mesmer's FOW Armor is endlessly sexy, and I finally got myself a goal again: A lvl 11 Male Mesmer with FOW Armor. Yay!

i like N/Me, Blood Magic is so fun, u can run uw with a 55 monk, or 55 yourself and and solo hydra's

I voted Mesmer, but Im a control freak, so I really enjoy doing "behind the scenes" stuff, I dont care for up front damage numbers, knowing you can gimp anything out there has its own satisfaction

I would go with a monk secondary if you plan on doing PvE with henchmen, having ressurect and heals can really turn the table when the NPC monks decide to play stupid

If you plan on doing PvE with guild or PUGs, then necro would be a massive secondary, necros can put out so many excellent spells, that, like your mesmer spells, seriously can hinder the enemy.
M/E could work too I guess, but your damage will never ever reach that of an elemental primary.

Funny thing, I found playing a necro to be much harder than playing mesmer, the level of strategy you can pour into a necro is just staggering, the options almost unlimited, but mesmer is hella fun to play

I voted mesmer also. Almost any secondary has its use, but necro is nice for your soul barbs, etc, before you pile on the other hexes. Very nice. So many of those necro skills take so freaking long to cast, your fast casting is actually pretty useful.

Other elementary options:

Warrior secondary if you wanted to use Illusionary Weaponry; Ranger if you wanted to work on the conditions for a Fragility build (guess that's PvP not PvE too much); Monk for fast ressing; Ele for fast meteors etc.

There are many more options than that, of course.
